Czech Central Bank Raises Key Interest Rate 25BPs To 2.75%
The Czech central bank's Monetary Policy Board voted Thursday to raise its key two-week repurchase rate 25 basis points to 2.75% to slow inflation.
The increase was in line with market expectations and follows several months in which inflation accelerated faster than the central bank forecasted. The annual inflation rate rose to 2.5% in April from 1.9% in March.
The Czech central bank last changed rates in September when it delivered a 25 basis-point rise.
The bank also raised its discount and Lombard rates by 25 basis points to 1.75% and 3.75%, respectively.
