Lithuania's gross domestic product grew by 8 pct in the second quarter of this year compared with a year earlier to reach 23.731 bln litas (6.87 bln eur), the Statistics Department reported.
The growth was propelled by a 17.3 pct surge in construction, 10.7 pct growth in retail, hotels and restaurants, transport and communications, and an 8.8 pct rise in financial mediation, real estate and other businesses, the department said.
Agriculture and fishery grew 1.9 pct; industry 4.3 pct; and other services by 4.8 pct.
Household consumption soared 13.4 pct, while public expenditure grew by 5.5 pct. Capital expenditure surged 20.5 pct, imports grew by 16 pct, and exports by 4.5 pct.
