 Q1 2007: GDP Up, Real Estate Down  29.06.2007 back
The Serbian Statistics Office stated that in the first quarter of 2007 GDP grew by 8.7% in comparison to the corresponding period of the previous year.

The Serbian Statistics Office stated that in the first quarter of 2007 GDP grew by 8.7% in comparison to the corresponding period of the previous year, and made up RSD 303.709 million.

By activities, the largest growth was noted in the trade sector 24.1%, transport 19.4%, financial intermediation 18.7%, construction 16.2% and processing industry 8.8%. The electric energy, gas and water supply sector showed a fall of 5.6%, and the real estate sector noted a decrease of 1.4%.

Thus the 8.7 % GDP increase in the first quarter of 2007 was mainly due to increases in the trade sector (2.3 of a percentage point), transport sector (2.1 of a percentage point), financial intermediation sector (1.3 of a percentage point) and the sector of processing industry (1.2 of a percentage point).
